Man Makes Suicide Bluff to Get a Ride; Ends Up in Custody

On Dec. 18, Gwinnett Police responded to a suicide attempt by hanging in Grayson. As officers were walking up the driveway, a white male wearating a blue jacket walked out from the residence and identified himself as the one who had made the suicide call. He requested transport to Gwinnett Medical to be evaluated and treated. 

Police confirmed the man's identity as Timothy Williams and received information through the GCIC/NCIC that he was wanted by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding warrant for hit and run. 

The radio operated confirmed the warrant and Williams was placed under arrest and transported to Gwinnett County Jail. Officers informed the deputies on duty that Williams had made threats of killing himself. But once there, he told deputies that he did not have any plans of suicide, he just needed a ride to the hospital. Williams told police that he had told the 911 operator that he would hang himself so he would receive a speedy response.
