Loganville Fire Displaces Man and His Dog

Officials say cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A fire in Loganville Wednesday resulted in a man and his dog being displaced from their home - at least for a while.

Chief Danny Roberts said the Loganville and department were able to make a “good stop” on the fire in a house at 720 Wilkes Drive on the Gwinnett County side of Loganville.

“There was a man asleep in the home when the fire started, but the neighbors and the police were able to wake him and get him and his dog out,” Roberts said. “The Loganville Police got there first and then we got there just behind them. We did have to get the Red Cross out to help the homeowner. We had to shut off the power so he won’t be able to stay there right now.”

Roberts said the fire appears to have started on the back deck and most of the damage was to the attic and upstairs part of the two-story house. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
