Walton County recorded its first fatality of 2012 on Sunday. According to Gordy Wright, public information officer for the Georgia State Patrol, the single-vehicle accident happened on Walton Road, south of John Deere Road, Monroe, at about 5 p.m.

“A 1993 Mazda van being driven by Willie Clyde Binion, age 47, from Madison, was southbound on Walton Road. The driver lost control in a curve, left the roadway and hit a tree,” Wright said. “Binion was killed in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt and was trapped.”
