UPDATE: Search for Armed Robber in Loganville Called Off

UPDATE: LPD have called off the search for a suspect who robbed the Texaco gas station and was seen running in the direction of Sharon Church Road at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The suspect was not located.

UPDATE: Loganville police report the search for the armed robbery suspect was called off by 9 p.m. Thursday. The suspect was not located.

Loganville police are on the scene of an armed robbery at the Texaco gas station on the corner of Highway 20 and Sharon Church Road in Loganville. Police are asking anyone who sees someone who matches the description to contact Walton County 911 immediately.

"What we can tell you is he is a white male, about 6 feet tall, and he was wearing dark or navy sweat pants with white tennis shoes," said Lt. Mike Westbooks of the Loganville Police Department. "He had on a bright red jacket with a front pocket and had a red bandanna covering his mouth and front of his face. He was wearing a blue ball cap."

Westbrooks said the suspect entered the gas station a little before 7:30 p.m. and produced a hand gun.

"He ordered the clerk over to the cash register to give him the money," Westbooks said. "He then ran in the direction of Sharon Church Road."

Police are currently on the scene with a K-9 unit actively searching for the suspect. Westbrooks said he got away with about $250 to $300. This is the second armed robbery attempt in Loganville this week. failed when the suspect, a black male, appeared to have been spooked and ran away.
