Loganville Police Blotter: 73-Year-Old Woman Arrested For DUI and Reckless Driving

The following arrest information was supplied by the Loganville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests were reported by the  for the week ending June 20. 

June 10

  • A 73-year-old Loganville woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (alcohol less safe), improper parking, reckless driving and for not fulfilling her duty after striking an unattended vehicle. Police responded to a call from Kroger regarding a woman who, after failing to maintain her lane, turned into Kroger and struck several un-occupied parked cars before stopping and entering the store. While police were checking the vehicles that had been struck, the woman came out of the store and attempted to put a package into her vehicle, which was parked up against another vehicle.  According to the report, she denied drinking and explained her driving difficulty as being because the vehicle was a new car for her. The package contained a bottle of wine, which she said was for dinner. Police reported she seemed confused and kept wandering out in front of traffic. Her husband arrived looking for her and informed officers he came looking when he found the car missing. He also reportedly said his wife was an alcoholic and had been drinking Schnapps most of the day. She was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.

  • A 54-year-old Loganville man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule II drugs and obstructing law enforcement officers after police found him sitting in the passenger seat of his vehicle while it was parked. When police began questioning him and asked about conducting a search, he fled on foot. He was chased down and when police got to him, he was trying to swallow a substance in his mouth. It was retrieved and turned out to be a pill. During a subsequent search, police report finding several pills, including Oxycodone, and two plastic bags containing a white crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamines. Scales and spoons also were reportedly found in the car. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.

June 16

  • A 22-year-old Loganville man was arrested and charged with shoplifting (less than $300) after police were called to BestBuy. The loss prevention officer reported seeing the subject open a box containing a wiring harness, valued at $19.99, and put it inside another box in an attempt to only pay for one item. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.

June 17

  • A 21-year-old Loganville man was arrested and charged with DUI (alcohol less safe), reckless driving and failure to maintain lane after a traffic stop at Sharon Plaza for failing to maintain lane and reckless driving. He failed the field sobriety test and tested at 0.061 grams and 0.056 grams on the state breath test. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.
  • A 24-year-old Loganville man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), no driver’s license and operating a vehicle without a valid tag/decal after he was stopped for an expired tag. He produced a Mexican driver’s license, but was not in possession of his passport. A search allegedly also turned up a greenish, brown leafy substance believed to be marijuana. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.
  • Two motorcyclists on dirt bikes were arrested and charged with no insurance and wrong class of driver’s license and one of them was also charged with no license on his person and no tag after they were seeing riding on Highway 78. They were booked at the Loganville Police Department and bonded out by a bonding company.

June 18

  • An 18-year-old Loganville man was charged with possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce) after an officer on patrol saw several subjects sitting outside a restaurant and smelled burnt marijuana when he passed by. One of the subjects confessed to be the only one smoking. He was issued a citation and released to his father and a green leafy substance was taken as evidence.

June 19

  • A 27-year-old Loganville woman was arrested and charged for speeding and DUI (alcohol less safe) following a traffic stop for speeding (65 mph in a 45 mph speed zone). Police reported a strong smell of alcohol and the subject allegedly failed the field sobriety test, but refused the state breath test. She was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail. Her vehicle was released to her mother.
  • A 29-year-old Loganville man was arrested and charged with shoplifting (less than $300) after police were called to Walmart regarding a shoplifting incident. The manager reported seeing the subject take two camera cards, valued at $59.67, and put them in his pocket. He was booked at the LPD and released on a copy of the citation.
