Loganville Man Using Walker Charged With DUI, Defecates on Himself

The 58-year-old from Loganville, who admitted to drinking moonshine, had crashed into a Walton EMC power pole.

A Loganville man who was charged with driving under the influence defecated on himself after crashing his Ford into a Walton EMC power pole.

According to the Loganville Police report, the officer reported to the collision on Georgia 81 and Tig Knight Road around 2:43 p.m. the day after Christmas.

Police spoke with the driver, 58, who had watery eyes and smelled faintly of alcohol. The officer also noted in the report that he had soiled himself.

The driver told authorities that he was coming home from a doctor's appointment. When asked about alcohol, he said he only had one drink.

When asked how big the drink was, the driver said he drank half a quart of moonshine "earlier," the report says.

The man just had back surgery and was using a walker, so police were unable to perform any field sobriety tests on him or place him in handcuffs. He was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane, and he gave a blood sample at the police station. After being processed, he was released to his wife.

The report does not say if the suspect was injured at all or needed any medical attention.

A witness' statement says that he first noticed something strange with the DUI suspect when the Ford started swerving at Rosebud Road and Highway 78. The car drifted to the right side of the road and then almost stopped at Harrison Road, but realized he had cars behind him so he sped up. The other driver temporarily lost sight of the Ford until he spotted it again at GA 81 South where it turned right.

The witness followed the car to Tig Knight Road where the Ford attempted to turn left. The vehicle instead ran off the road and struck the power pole.
