Loganville Man Involved in Car Wreck that Resulted in a Fatality

Gwinnett Count police report that a 28-year-old Loganville man was involved in an accident that killed a 22-year-old Sugar Hill man in Lawrenceville yesterday.

Gwinnett County Police Department report that a Loganville, Ga. man was involved in a car accident in Lawrenceville on Tuesday that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Sugar Hill man.

According to a press release from GCPD, the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee at about 12:42 p.m. April 10.

Investigators report that a white 1998 Chevrolet, driven by Kenneth Hayden, 22, of Sugar Hill, was stopped on Sugarloaf Parkway waiting to turn left onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd. A black 1997 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jonathan Bagwell, 28, of Loganville, was traveling north on Sugarloaf Parkway and intended to continue north. Hayden turned into Bagwell's path as the light turned from green to yellow, causing Bagwell's vehicle to hit the right side of Hayden's vehicle. Hayden died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained. Bagwell was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
 
Officials report that alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor. However, an investigation is ongoing with regard to speed and right of way.
