Loganville Man Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges After Running Out of Gas

Joseph Douglas Hampton, 28, of Loganville, was reportedly arrested after he ran from Rockdale County Sheriff's Deputies during an investigation.

The Rockdale Citizen reported that Joseph Douglas Hampton, 28, of 4254 Timber Trace, Loganville, was arrested after he allegedly tried to run from officers while a vehicle he and another man had been traveling in was being searched. The investigation began after the vehicle ran out of gas on Frontier Drive in Rockdale County. A woman called 911 when Hampton and another man approached her home and asked for gas money.

Hampson reportedly was acting "jittery" and suspicious during the search and officers were led to believe he was on some sort of stimulant. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was reportedly found in the vehicle. 

According to the Rockdale Citizen, Hampson was charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine and possession and use of drug-related objects. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Walton County for a probation violation. The original charge was reportedly for methamphetamine possession. The other man was not charged.
