Loganville House Fire Displaces Two Older Adults

Gwinnett County fire officials report damage to about 50 percent of a house at 270 Chloe Dianne Drive SE, in Loganville.

A house at 270 Chloe Dianne Drive in Loganville was damage by fire on Wednesday, April 11, 2013, displacing two older adults, according to a press release from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. Chloe Dianne Drive is in unincorporated Gwinnett.

According to the release, firefighters responded to the report of a fire from a neighbor at about 5:30 p.m. They arrived to find the single-story wood frame house with heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage and attic. Crews report the home was already about 30 percent involved when they arrived. Since firefighters were not sure whether anyone was home at that time, they immediately entered the house to conduct a search and battle the blaze. They proceeded with caution, however, on learning that nobody was in the home but that it contained portable oxygen tanks and there also was ammunition inside the house.

About 50 percent of the home, mostly in the kitchen, garage and attic area, sustained heavy damage. According to fire investigators, the fire appears to be accidental and began in the garage. The exact cause, however, is listed as undetermined at this time and may not be readily known because of the amount of contents inside the home and the heavy damage.
