Inside LPD Reports: Candy Theft Caught on Tape

Stolen merchandise not recovered.

On September 29, 2012, a Loganville Police Officer was flagged down at the RaceTrac by one of the employees who stated that a gentleman had stolen an unknown amolunt of groceries items and left the scene as a passenger in a silver car.

LPD was able to make contact with the vehicle at Old Loganville Road and Tuck Road and asked the driver to follow him back to the RaceTrac; she complied.

After reviewing the surveillance tape, the officer witnessed the gentleman who was the passenger in the car taking several items from the candy aisle and walk out without making payment.Β

The manager stated she wanted to press charges and the gentleman was handcuffed and placed in the back of an LPD patrol car. While searching the silver vehicle, the gentelman began yelling at the officer from the back seat of the car.

When the officer explained that he was searching for the stolen merchandise, the gentleman stated that he had thrown it out of the window as they were driving down Old Loganville Road. None of the merchandise was recovered in a search of the area.

The gentleman was booked and charged with Shoplifting Less than $300.
