Gwinnett Fire Crews Tackle House Fire on Brushy Wood Drive in Loganville

Crews quickly knocked down the fire. No injuries were reported.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services knocked down at fire in the 3600 block of Brushy Woods Drive Tuesday evening, keeping damage to a minimum.

According to a press release from GCF&ES, on arrival crews found light smoke showing from the attached garage of a two-story wood frame house on a slab. Crews were able to make a quick entry and contain the fire to the garage with a single fire attack light hose. Moderate damage was contained to the garage and only slight smoke damage inside the house. According to officials, the home was occupied by two adults at the time of the fire. The occupants were home at the time and were alerted to the fire by the smell of smoke. No injuries were reported. The occupants were not displaced and were able to remain in the home if they desired. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Officials advise installing smoke alarms on every level and in each bedroom in a home. They also urge that every family have a home fire escape plan and practice fire drills regularly. For additional information on home fire safety, contact the Gwinnett Fire Community Risk Reduction Division at 678.518.4845 or e-mail fireprograms@gwinnettcounty.com
