Grayson Man Charged In Fatal Accident

A Grayson man has been charged following an accident in Lawrenceville yesterday that killed an elderly couple.

According to Gwinnett County police, Ryan Morton, 34, of , has been arrested and charged following an accident in Lawrenceville yesterday that resulted in the deaths of 78-year-old Ronald Osier and his 76-year-old wife, June. Osier died at the scene and his wife died later at the hospital as a result of her injuries.

Police say Morton ran a red light at Riverside Pkwy and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd. Morton's white Chevy Astro first hit a yellow Dodge Ram, causing minor damage. The driver of that truck was not injured. Morton's van then hit the white Mercury Marquis carrying the Osiers. The van struck the driver side door of the car.

Morton was arrested at the scene and charged with failure to obey a traffic control device (red light) and two counts of vehicular homicide, second degree. He was released the same day on $5,700 bond on each of the vehicular homicide charges and $1,300 bond for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Police say speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the accident.
