Loganville Couple Charged with Fraud after Hit and Run

A Loganville couple have been charged with insurance fraud after the vehicle they reported stolen was found to be involved in a hit and run.

Andrea Natalia Luby and Lex Anthony Luby, both of 2167 Pixie Rose Lane, Loganville, were arrested Wednesday and charged with insurance fraud following an alleged hit and run in Norcross in December.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, Lex Luby phoned police on Dec. 14, 2011, to report his 1999 Toyota 4-runner was missing from his driveway. He said it was there when he left for work, but on his return at about 9:45 p.m. that night it was gone. Police called and listed the vehicle as stolen on Georia Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center. They were called back about 10 minutes later to be told the vehicle had been involved in a hit and run in Norcross. The driver, a woman, had run from the accident and police were unable to locate her. Luby reportedly told police he did not know the person described as the hit and run driver.

Following an investigation, the couple were arrested on June 6, 2012, and charged with insurance fraud. Lex Luby was also charge with making a false report of a crime. They bonded out the following morning on a combined bond of $17, 100.
