UPDATE: Missing 72-year-old Woman Found Safe

The 72-year-old woman who went missing Jan. 2 has been found safe.

UPDATE: 11Alive New is reporting that the 72-year-old woman who went missing Jan. 2 has been found safe. According to a television news report, she was located in her own yard and is currently at home. She will be evaluated.

The search for the missing 72-year-old resumed at 7 a.m. Jan. 3. Gwinnett County Police Department reports that the search is being coordinated with the assistance of  code enforcement officers, the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office, Suwanee PD, and the Georgia State Defense Force. GCPD spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said at this time they do not suspect foul play and are still treating it as a missing person's case. It has been reported that Petersen suffers from dementia.

In a press release sent out just before 7 p.m. Jan. 2, police reported that there is an active search underway for a 72-year-old Asian woman, Chong Petersen. She was last seen at about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 2 wearing a brown parka and dark pants in the area of Rock Springs Park, Lawrenceville.
