GBI Not Ready to Give Cause of Death on Body in Car at Walmart

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is awaiting lab and toxicology reports before giving a cause of death on Grace Hughes, 56, who was found dead July 5 in a car parked at the Loganville, Ga. Walmart.

said the autopsy has been completed on Grace Hughes, of Flowery Branch, Ga.

"At this time there is no confirmed cause of death due to pending toxicology and lab report," Westbrooks said, adding that the information came from the Georgia Bureau of Information Medical Examiner's Office. Westbrooks said there was nothing in the car to signify foul play and no evidence of alcohol or narcotic usage was found inside the vehicle.

The vehicle Hughes was in had been reported stolen earlier in the week by a friend of hers. The friend allegedly allowed Hughes to take it and she never returned. Officials said the body was discovered by one of the LPD School Resource Officers who was working city duty during the school holidays. Westbrooks said the windows were up and the woman looked as though she was asleep. The officer ran a check and when the vehicle came back stolen, he went to check on the person inside. That was when she was found to be deceased.
