Former Loganville Community Coach Charged With Sexual Exploitation of Minors

Brandon Michael Clay, a former voluntary coach in the local area, turned himself in to the Walton County Sheriff's Office on June 13, 2013 on six counts of sexual exploitation of minors.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Brandon Michael Clay, a man who was known in the Loganville area as a volunteer coach, is facing charges of sexual exploitation of minors.

"He turned himself in to Walton County Sheriff's authorities on June 13," said Mike Ayers, the GBI special agent in charge of the case. "We were called in to assist by the Loganville Police Department on March 11. These charges are in connection to solicitation of illicit photography of minors."

Ayers said that there was not much more that can be said at the time as it is an ongoing investigation.

Clay has previously submitted stories to Patch on basketball games, including some from Loganville High School. However, after being told that he was no longer afilliated with the school, or even allowed on school property, his submissions were no longer run.

When asked in April 2013, Walton County Public School spokesperson Kimberly Embry confirmed that he was no longer associated with the school, but did not respond when asked why.

"We can confirm Brandon Clay is no longer a volunteer at the school and he has never been an officially approved lay coach or an employee of the school system," Embry wrote in an email response.
