Driver in Grayson Fatality Charged with DUI; Held for Immigration

The driver of a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante, Brittany Sailors, 16, of Grayson was killed in an accident on Graystone Parkway and Lakeview Road on Sunday. The driver of the second car was charged with DUI and is being held for immigration.

Gwinnett County Police have announced the names in . In a press release, Gwinnett police report that Brittany Sailors, 16, was killed when she attempted to make a left turn from Graystone Parkway onto Lakeview Road at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday. Sailors was the driver of a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante that was struck by a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville that was westbound on Lakeview Road.

Neither Sailors nor her passenger, 16-year-old Lacey Gowens, was reportedly wearing a seat belt. Sailors died at the scene, and Gowens was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Pontiac Bonneville, Mutajah Paasewe, 23, also of Grayson, was later charged with driving under the influence. According to jail records, Paasewe is also being held for immigration.

Police report that Paasewe and his passenger, 19-year-old Dario Abreau of Norcross, were also transported to a local hospital for treatment.
