Condition of Injured Loganville Teens Improving

A fund is being established by tennis teammates and fellow students at Walnut Grove High School for the families of the Loganville, Ga. teens who were injured in a car accident on April 8.

The Loganville community and has maintained a vigil as . According to David Roche, a Loganville resident whose son is a tennis teammate of Aaron Garcia and Alan Peper, there were five WGHS seniors in the car that wrecked Sunday on the way back from a vacation in Panama City Beach.

“We spent Sunday night and most of Monday in Panama City with the families,” Roche said. “In fact, four of the five boys who were in the wreck are tennis players at Walnut Grove – including Alan and Aaron.”

Roche said the other three teens in the car were Corey Lockridge, Bryan Quade and Myles Tate. They did not sustain any serious injuries in the wreck, but Peper and Garcia were seriously injured with . Roche set up the Facebook Page that has given regular updates on their recovery.

Peper was released on Thursday and was able to return to Atlanta. According to the latest update, Garcia's condition has stabilized enough for him to be transferred to a hospital closer to home, possibly by the weekend. He will, however, have to remain in intensive care at the moment.

Donations are being collected by the WGHS tennis team for the families’ expenses while they were at the hospital.

“Donations can be dropped off at the main office and students are collecting each day at lunch as well,” said Miranda Compton, an assistant principal at WGHS.

Compton said tennis coach Laura Sutherland is coordinating the effort. Any donations can be mailed to the school at: WGHS 4863 Guthrie Cemetery Rd, Loganville, GA 30052, ATTN: Laura Sutherland (for Aaron/Alan). Checks can be made out to Warrior Tennis. Students at the school this week made a YouTube video letting the injured Warrior tennis players know they have the support of their fellow students, teammates and WGHS faculty.
