Charges Filed Against Loganville Man in Fatal H.E.R.O. Accident

Georgia State Patrol filed charges against Kirk A. Sherwood, of Loganville, in an accident earlier this year that killed a transportation H.E.R.O. worker.

According to a press release from the Georgia State Patrol, Kirk A. Sherwood, 47, was arrested last night in connection with an accident Jan. 31 on Interstate 85 that resulted in the death of Department of Transportation H.E.R.O. worker Spencer Pass, 45.

Warrants were served last night and Kirkland was taken to the Fulton County Jail. He is facing misdemeanor charges of second-degree vehicular homicide, violation of the Move Over law, a lane violation and two equipment violations (lights and brakes) on the trailer Sherwood was pulling at the time.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on I-85 southbound at Metropolitan Parkway as DOT HERO Pass was assisting a motorist on the shoulder of the interstate. Β A 2004 Ford F-350 truck pulling a trailer allegedly being driven by Sherwood struck the two vehicles and the victim.

Sherwood is in the Fulton County Detention Center on $1,500 bond.
