Archer Student Arrested, Charged with Assault on Teacher

Gwinnett Police report a teacher felt threatened when a 17-year-old squeezed her hands to force her to let go of a paper he wanted.

A 17-year-old student from Loganville was arrested Wednesday and charged with simple battery and disrupting a school after a report of an assault on a teacher.

According to the report from the Gwinnett County School Police, the incident occurred between 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 24. The teacher reported she was holding a piece of paper that Kentrae Deion Nelson wanted, and he allegedly grabbed her by the hands and squeezed until she let go of the paper.

The teacher reported that she felt threatened, and the police were called. The student was arrested and transported to the Gwinnett County jail, where he remained Thursday pending posting of a $2,400 security bond on each charge.

Jorge Quintana, spokesman for Gwinnett County Public Schools, said that the student would also be disciplined by the school system.
