An Accident in Monroe Monday Injures Loganville man

A 20-year-old Loganville man was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center with head injuries on Monday following a wreck on Highway 78.

A crash that occurred around 3:45 p.m. Monday in Monroe sent a 20-year-old Loganville man to the hospital. According to Gordy Wright, public information officer with the Georgia State Patrol, Christopher Cody Nix was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center with a head injury following the two car accident. Nix was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer. He was charged with failing to maintain lane, seat belt violation and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Wright said the second vehicle involved was a 2004 Dog Ram truck driven by Paul Austin Nichols, 27, of Hoschton. He was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center with abrasions.

"Nix was traveling east on Highway 78 and Nichols was westbound. Nix lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median while rotating and began to overturn," Wright said. "The Dodge struck the Explorer as it was overturning. The Explorer came to rest on the north shoulder. Nix was partially ejected."

The accident held up westbound traffic on Highway 78 between Monroe and Loganville Monday afternoon.
