Alleged Commercial Gambling Shop Busted in Loganville

Five people face felony charges related to commercial gambling, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Gwinnett County police vice officials investigated an Athens Highway business on Thursday in connection with commercial gambling allegations that resulted in charges against five people, according to a summary from the police public information officer.

After the investigation at 540 Athens Highway, Michael Vanconey, Marlene Thompson, Devan King and Rainy King were arrested on felony commercial gambling charges, in addition to misdemeanor charges of keeping a gambling place and possession of a gambling device, police said.

Kristin Carter was also charged with commercial gambling, keeping a place of gambling and possession of a gambling device. Carter was not present and remained at large on Friday morning, police said.

Thompson and Devan King were also charged with alcohol violations, police said. Vanconey, Thompson, Devan King and Rainy King were transported to Gwinnett County Detention Center.

$38,734.00 was seized during the search warrant, according to police.
