17 Gwinnett Citizens To Graduate Tonight From Gwinnett Citizen's Police Academy
Citizen's Police Academy is designed to educate people on how the local police force operates.
A group of citizens from Gwinnett County will be recognized tonight for their willingness to participate in a program designed to improve the quality of life in Gwinnett County for all residents.
The 21st Gwinnett County Citizen’s Police Academy graduation will take place at 6 p.m. tonight at the Gwinnett County Police Department Training Center located at 854 Winder Highway, Lawrenceville.
The purpose of the Citizen’s Police Academy is to educate Gwinnett County residents about the police department and how local law enforcement works. The goal is to create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens with a hope they will be able to influence public opinion on how and why the police do what they do.

The people who get involved in this citizen force come from all walks of life from college graduates to senior citizens and include all sorts of professions from novelists to IRS investigators and computer analysts. The CPA is open to all Gwinnett County residents from 18 years of age or older who successfully pass the application process as well as a driver’s and criminal history check.
