What Are You Looking for in the Vice Presidential Debate?
Vice Presidential debates historically are not believed to make much of a difference. Do you expect this year to be any different?
As the hype over the first presidential debate continues, attention turns to the vice presidential debate coming up on Thursday in Danville, Ky. Again the expectations game begins with Republicans cautioning people not to expect too much after Gov. Mitt Romney’s stellar performance last week.
A story in The Huffington Post looks at the match up between the two candidates, Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan, and gives an opinion on what people might expect. The Huffington Post is categorizing Biden’s position as one that is “playing defense” following President Barack Obama’s “passive” performance last week. Many other media sites are weighing in, as was the case with the first presidential debate, but "caution" appears to be the name of the game. Although Ryan is hailed as being "smart," and Binden has earned a reputation for himself as being "the gaffe-master," people are being reminded of Biden's vast experience and ability to connect with regular folks.
What do you expect to see from the vice presidential candidates during the debate and how important do you think it even is to the overall presidential race?
