Scott Walker, 50, of Grayson

Obituary: The local man passed away Thursday after an extended illness.

Scott Walker, age 50, of Grayson, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 7, 2013 after an extended illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Patti Brim Walker; son, Jason Walker, daughter, Ellie Walker; parents, Jimmy and Ann Walker; brother, Billy Walker all of Grayson, GA; mother-in-law, Barbara Brim of Cumming, GA; sister-in-law, Nancy Brim (Peter Carnell) of Decatur, GA; brother-in-law, David Brim (Cathy) and their two children, Boyd and Anna of Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Barrie O’Brien (Denny Lamoureux) and their children, Alex, Grayson, Landon O’Brien, and Ryan Lamoureux of Winter Garden, FL; aunts, Barbara 
Savage and Nickie Coleman both of Hernando, MS; Jane Csedrik (Ernie) of Germantown, TN; and numerous extended family members.

Scott was born in Richwood, West Virginia, on August 14, 1963 to Ann Ferguson Walker and Jimmy Scott Walker Sr. He was a 1981 graduate of South Gwinnett High School where he played soccer and went on to graduate from Oxford College in 1983, where he also played soccer, and from Emory University in 1985 with a degree in psychology.

Scott was a mortgage professional in real estate his entire 28-year career and most recently had been associated with the Department of Veteran Affairs, where he really enjoyed working with veterans as part of his job.

He was a member at Snellville United Methodist Church, was a wonderful cook, and his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his son and daughter. He loved throwing the ball with Jason, and coaching Ellie’s soccer team.

This kind, wonderful man will be greatly missed by his adoring family and many friends. A Memorial Service Honoring the Life of Scott Walker will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Snellville United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Cantrell officiating. The family will receive friends after the service for a dessert and coffee reception in the gathering room at the church.

Those desiring may make donations to the Oxford College Fund for Excellence through Emory University Office of Gifts or Snellville United Methodist Church in memory of Scott Walker.
