James Osborn McElroy, 85, of Loganville

Obituary: A Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Loganville American Legion, Mr. McElroy owned and operated H & H Superette and was a bus driver for Loganville schools.

James Osborn McElroy, age 85, of Loganville, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Decatur.  

Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Corinth Christian Church in Loganville. Minister Lester Waters will officiate. Inurnment Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery, 4651 Monroe Highway, Statham, Georgia 30666 with military honors.  

Mr. McElroy was born in Oconee County on October 5, 1928 to Albert & Sarah Osborn McElroy. He owned and operated H & H Superette for many years and later was a school bus driver for Loganville Schools. Mr. McElroy was a Navy Veteran serving from 1951-1959 and was involved in many Civic and School Clubs and was a lifetime member of the Loganville American Legion.  

He was preceded in death by his sister Iris Thomas Payne of Bogart. Mr. McElroy is survived by: Brother & Sister-in-law: Billy & Darla McElroy, Oklahoma City, OK; Sisters: Emily Watson, Loganville; Linda Malcom, Athens; Nina Moon, Crawford; Special Niece & Nephew: Jane Sweetwood and Mark Watson and several other nieces and nephews.
