For many years there was an annual tradition in September - the birthday celebration of Mrs. King, or "Granny" as she was affectionately known. Mrs. King worked at McDonald's  for many years and her birthday celebration usually took place at the restaurant, even after she no longer worked there. In 2011, however, her birthday celebration took place at Loganville Christian Church

The first birthday party had been thrown for Mrs. King by a group of senior citizens who met regularly at the McDonald’s in Loganville where she worked. It was there where she became known to everyone as Granny. When she lost her husband, the owner talked her into working instead of retiring because he knew she needed something to keep her busy.
