Enjoy the Loganville Christmas Parade "Through the Eyes of a Child"

Slow down a little bit this holiday season, come out and take in a parade. Join me on Main Street at 5:30pm on December 3rd in Loganville.

It always seems that when you look at your calendar for December you discover you are hard pressed to find some free time. Between holiday parties, family gatherings, gift shopping, house decorating, baking, and much more, we really need to find time for ourselves. We need to take every chance to slow down and actually enjoy the warm emotions we feel during this festive time, a time to enjoy family, fun and community fellowship. There are many opportunities around us to do just that and for Loganville...today is the day!

The Loganville Christmas Parade will take place today, December 3rd at 5:30pm. The Route begins at Bay Creek Elementary, heads up Hwy. 81 toward Loganville Elementary then turns onto Main Street right in downtown Loganville. This year's parade has grown bigger from last year, featuring three school bands, three different horse groups, two dance companies, several pageant queens, various clubs and groups, and many area businesses. A very wide array of vehicles will be on display throughout the parade from motorcycles and rail cars to classic cars, old and new tractors to a dump truck and old reliable, American Legion's 40 & 8 train. Santa will be perched atop the City of Loganville fire engine to offer a warm smile and holiday wave to all who come out and attend the annual parade.

The 2011 theme is "Through the Eyes of a Child" allowing entrants to represent the meaning of the holiday season as viewed from our youngest citizens. Their young eyes surely view the month of December in a very different fashion from you and I. This magical time of year holds a multitude of significances for our children, generally highlighting traditions and desires. All the participants are very excited to showcase their hard work and surely deserve all the accolades they receive. Each participant in the parade this year submitted an application for participation along with canned good donations. All donations have been passed on to local organization Shepherd Staff. Shepherd Staff is a ministry who has surpassed a decade of service in reaching thousands of families in the Loganville community by providing assistance to those in crisis. Retiring co-directors Bonnie and Joe Johnson are honored this year as the parade's Grand Marshals. They have provided a decade of service via Shepherd Staff. Their efforts have assisted countless families in our community and we commend them.

Each year the Loganville Christmas Parade has not only hosted a fantastic group of parade participants but also an amazing display of spectators. Once again, Loganville exhibits its beautiful sense of community where it cheers on its local school bands, supports its local businesses and slows down during this busy time of year to enjoy fellowship. I have the opportunity to drive through the parade route and nothing makes me more happy than to see the smiling, excited faces of all who line the street. My heart swells up when my eyes fall upon my three bright-eyed, parade loving children; the ones who inspire me to work with all the individuals I have the pleasure of teaming up with, my little ones who motivate me to coordinate all these spectacular gatherings we have the pleasure of enjoying together. If I was not going to be positioned behind the wheel of my truck, I most likely would try to walk the parade route and hug or shake hands with every wonderful child lining the Main Street of our phenomenal City of Loganville.

Enjoy yourselves tonight! I look forward to seeing you.
