in Grayson is going to donate a portion of Wednesday evening's profits to the family of a Loganville airman killed in action last week.

Air Force , a 1992 graduate of , was killed by a suicide bomber near Kabul, Afghanistan along with two officers from the US Army last week. He leaves a wife and three young children in Colorado.

When the tragic news broke on the Loganville-Grayson Patch last week, a post appeared in the comments from Five Spot Frozen Yogurt, saying "Five Spot Frozen Yogurt is saddened by the loss of Maj. Gray. On Wednesday, August 15, we will donate 20 percent of our proceeds from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM to the family" This was posted by the owner of the Grayson store, David Carswell.

"I read on The Patch that he was from the area, and that he had three little children and a wife" said Carswell. "His sacrafice was touching. It just seemed the right thing to do was try to help."

This isn't the first time Five Spot has donated a percentage of it's revenue to local families in need. Carswell said they recently raised about $1,500 for a local child with cancer. The Snellville location has held a similar drive in the past to raise funds for the family of a fallen soldier.

An impromtu vigil held in Gray's honor by former classmates from Gray's Red Devil days at LHS yielded nearly $1300.00. That money will be used to send floral arrangements for Gray's services in Colorado, Virginia, and Loganville, according to fellow '92 alum Carolyn Feldcamp Woods. She said the remainder will be used to start a trust fund for Gray's three children and the funds collected Wednesday will go towards those trust funds.

There will be a balloon release afterwards, to remember the fallen airman, but that will be for a different reason.

Wednesday, Aug. 15 would have been Gray's 39th birthday.

"Celebrating his birthday, and giving something back to his family is the very least we can do after all he's sacraficed for this country", said another of his old classmates.
