Nutrition is Fundamental

If we want to change the obesity epidemic, we have to make a change. Nutrition Education is the key!

My 4 year old son has started reading…most everything.  Watching him the other day reading things on the computer as they popped up, I thought about how different his world must be now.  The “simple” act of reading has opened up a whole new world for him.  Now, he can read books, signs, labels, directions, ….everything.  Now he knows the “secrets” that the rest of us know.  We can’t spell words to keep him from knowing what we are talking about and we can’t write things down to keep the listening ears from hearing.

Nutrition education was just as eye-opening for me.  Once I learned WHY fast food and processed foods are bad for my body, I was able to make life-long changes.  Once I learned WHY fresh, whole foods are better for my body, I was able to make better food choices and begin to provide a higher level of nutrition for myself.

I am looking forward to the day when nutrition education is a requirement in every school beginning in Pre-K through 12th grade.  I am looking forward to the day when obstetricians and pediatricians educate parents on nutrition both pre-natal and post-natal.

If we want to turn the obesity, diabetes, and cancer epidemics around, we MUST begin to teach everyone nutrition and help them to understand WHY it is so vitally important.  Nutrition education must become as fundamental as reading.  We must open the eyes of the nation to the dangers of our current food philosophies.  Once you are armed with nutrition education, it is a whole new world!

Try it for yourself.  The MOVE YOUR BODY Transformation Program is loaded with nutrition education.  The internet is loaded with nutrition education.  There are several very good food documentaries, such as "Food, Inc,” “Super Size Me,” “Food Matters,” and “Forks Over Knives” that are loaded with nutrition education.  Read it, watch it, absorb it and make a decision for yourself.
