Give It Away

What do you do with the unhealthy food is calling your name from your frig??

I have been awake since 2:30 a.m....mostly because I needed to get up and go to the bathroom- a normal result of all day water drinking.  Once I took care of that, I laid in the bed and could only think of one thing....the leftover pizza in my refrigerator!

I have a definite weakness for pizza.  Pizza and I are WAY closer than we should be and it likes to stick around, hiding in all of my recently vacated fat storage spots.

However, I have renewed my commitment to myself and my commitment to destroy the vacated fat storage locations.  So, I used my extra awake time to devise a plan to relocate the pizza to my parents' house!!

Those who know me well know my motto- When in doubt, GIVE IT AWAY!  This was mainly developed to address food that I know I shouldn't eat, such as leftover birthday cake, cupcakes, cookies, candy, etc, but it can also be applied to other areas of your life.  About a year and a half ago, I went on a closet cleaning spree and we donated over $1500 worth of stuff to a domestic violence shelter.  All items that we hadn't touched in over a year and I wasn't sure if we would need them or not.  When in doubt, GIVE IT AWAY!

Around the same time I started fundraising and donating money to various charities.  Mind you, we were in BAD shape financially.  I was laid-off of work for 6 month and then, thankfully after I found a job, my husband was laid-off for 11 months.  Things were tight, but the feeling that I get after donating goods, services, or money is awesome.  The fact that I have been able to pay it forward and give back for a small portion of the blessings that I have received is just wonderful.

To that end, I continue my work for the Preeclampsia Foundation, through fundraisers for the Atlanta Promise Walk for Preeclampsia 5K and I would like to invite anyone who may be in the Atlanta area on June 1, 2013 to join us!  If you are not in the Atlanta area, but would be willing to help us raise awareness and money for the Preeclampsia Foundation, you are welcome to join our team, too!  If you do not know what Preeclampsia is, please check out our other website, where you can also read my Preeclampsia story.

You never know when your decision to GIVE IT AWAY just might save a life or change someone's life for the better.  Give it a try and GIVE IT AWAY!
