FULL HOUSE - Homebuyer Education Workshop and Resource Fair

Millions of stimulus dollars given to first time home buyers in Georgia. Completing a workshop starts the qualification process. Radon Advisor educates buyers on the importance of radon testing.

I had the pleasure of speaking to a full house for just a couple of minutes today about testing for radon at the Urban League of Greater Atlanta “SUPER SATURDAY” Homebuyer Education Workshop and Resource Fair. My friend Tyrus Parrish of SafeHomeAtlanta was a feature speaker at this event. With over 300 in attendance it was the largest workshop of its kind in Georgia to date. First time homebuyers learned critical skills and the basic information required to be a successful home owner. Some of the topics discussed were:

Qualifying For a Mortgage Loan

Budgets and Choosing a Lender

Metro Fair Housing

The Home Inspection Process (this is where I chimed in)

Home Owners Insurance

Down Payment Assistance Programs Throughout Metro Atlanta

Certificates were awarded to the participants which will allow them to begin the qualification process to participate in some of the down payment assistance programs. As part of the stimulus plan, Georgia received $151 million dollars to help relieve areas affected by foreclosures.

I enjoyed the day and was inspired with the excitement of first time home buyers as they begin their journey of home ownership. The majority of the attendees had never heard of radon or why they should test for it before they buy their home. Many were shocked to learn about the dangers of radon. It was a great day and I enjoyed meeting a new group of friends.
