Loganville's Fourth of July Parade - Everything You Need to Know

The final touches are being made for the big Fourth of July Parade in Loganville next week. Here's what you need to know.

Loganville is the place to be this Fourth of July.

After missing last year, the is returning to the for 2012. Everybody who is anybody is encouraged not to miss the big event. A lot of work has gone into the planning and organizers expect it to be a parade to remember.

According to organizers, the parade will start at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. It will begin at , along Highway 20 to Main Street then behind Braxton's down Camp Street and C.S. Floyd to the for step off.

The theme is Celebrating Hometown Heroes with the Grand Marshall spot shared by Loganville's own wounded warrior and the famous . 

"The flight simulator from the documentary "Red Tails" about the airmen will be in the parade and then will be available to "ride" after the parade," said Pat Pippin, one of the volunteers who is helping organize the parade. "We are expecting this to be one of the three largest parades in Georgia - if not the largest. Everything you can think of that mades a parade will be in this one; military (especially), clowns, marching bands, horses, queens. We will have sodas, water and popcorn for sale prior to the parade.  After the parade, there will be inflatables for the kids, the flight simulator and food vendors. These inflatables are great. You can purchase a  ticket or a wrist band and ride all day."

Pippin said the flight simulator tickets, however, are separate. She said the inflatables and the simulator will be at the . These will be available immediately after the parade until 2:30 p.m. 

"Families can come to the parade and make a full day in our town which goes along with the "buy local" campaign," Pippin said. "Loganville Methodist Men will be selling barbecue plates for $6 and hamburger plates for $4.  The Outreach Committee at the church will be selling snow cones for $1.  There will also be fries, hotdogs, sandwiches and ice cream for sale by various vendors. Sodas and water will also be available for $1 each."

Pippin said there will be handicap parking around City Hall and behind the Main Street and Broad Street stores as well as behind the barber shop/dentist and across from the Catfish College building.

Visitors can then head to the for the big Fireworks Spectacular. The fun there begins at 4 p.m. and will end at 10 p.m.
