Get Into Grayson - April 21-27

Busy. Busy. Busy. You’ll see a buzz of activity throughout the City this week as we prepare a welcome for all our guests to our 35th Annual Grayson Day Festival and Parade on Saturday, April 26th! The park is being gussied up a bit – the landscaping crews are freshening up our Spring look. Pressure washing, signage, marking for booth spaces and all those final touches that make Grayson Day a premier event for the entire family!

While we’re getting ready, there are still a few more things going on around town … we’re having celebration parties with our Make-A-Wish recipients this week and we’ll be sure to pass along the photos to share with you! It’s going to be extra-super-duper special for sure!

GET INTO GRAYSON

It’s more than just the name of our Facebook page. Here’s the week’s worth of opportunities to Get Into Grayson:

GRAYSON FARMERS MARKET

  • Wednesday from 4 pm until 8 pm. Year round, we’re in the Spring harvest at this time that includes those tender greens, beautiful onions, and even some of the last of the Winter crops. We have bakers in Grayson … oh, yes we do! From gluten-free products to fantastical cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. Applesauce cookies?? You bet! Fresh meat, cheeses, and honey round out the early spring offerings. Many of last year’s vendors will begin filling in the market in the coming weeks as local produce begins to mature for harvest. And don’t pass up the dinner opportunities available at the market!

BRUSTERS MAKE-A-WISH NIGHT

  • Wednesday from 6 pm until 9 pm.  A really wonderful community partner, a percentage of proceeds during those hours will go to our Make-A-Wish Georgia campaign for Grayson’s “wish kids.” Yummy AND for a good cause.

GRAYSON DAY ROAD RACE

  • Saturday – 7:30 am. The Grayson Day Road Race is a 5k Race with a 1 mile Fun Run to benefit Grayson High’s Cross Country team. Race starts in the front of Grayson Elementary School with the Fun Run beginning at 7:30 am and the 5K starting at 8 a.m. Race day registration is at 7:15 am at the site. For more information, check out their website at www.graysondayroadrace.com

GRAYSON DAY PARADE

  • Saturday – 10 am. Marching bands, floats, pageantry and princesses! It’s a parade! This year, we’re so very excited to have our Make-A-Wish recipients stand as Grand Marshals for the 2014 Parade. Soraya, Ma’Kai, Houston and Blake will each represent the power of a community that comes together for a common good. Their individual floats have been designed and constructed by members of our community in their honor – representing their special wishes! You definitely don’t want to miss this!

GRAYSON DAY FESTIVAL

  • Saturday – 10 am – 4 pm. More vendors than EVER! Our festival has grown over the years since clearly, Grayson is no longer a secret! At this time, with more than 200 vendors, we’re sure you’ll find something quite special at Grayson Day. There will be games and fun for the family, lots of jumpy-blow-up activities, entertainment on the stage and in the pavilion, and we’ve ordered up a beautiful day to celebrate the season!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT – FROZEN

  • Saturday – Dusk. We’ll have a Disney Sing-A-Long and Karaoke starting around 7:45 pm and then the movie starts at dusk. Got little ones that want to dress up as Elsa, Anna, Kristoph … or Sven? Go for it! Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket and join us for a truly joyous evening under the stars in Grayson. Make-A-Wish Georgia will be on hand with concessions to make this the perfect way to end a perfect day with your family.

Whew! Did we say it was going to be a busy week? What a great way to welcome Spring to Grayson!
