Meet the Candidates: Jerry Price

Read about the former councilman who is challenging Dan Curry for the mayor's seat in the 2013 November city council election.

Loganville-Grayson Patch is running profile pieces on the different candidates running in the city council race in November. 

For the city of Loganville, three at-large seats are open on the council and the mayor's seat also is open. Seven residents have qualified as candidates for the council, and two candidates are running for mayor. Jerry Price is running for the mayor's seat against incumbent Dan Curry.

Family: Three adult children and five grandchildren; married to Teresa for 37 years

Occupation: Retired Atlanta Police

Have you ran for/served previously on the city council or for the mayor's seat? If so, when? Served on the City Council from 2004-2012.

What inspired you to run this term? A sense and need of Community Service.

What are some of the notable projects you've helped or spearheaded in the past? 
With the help of the other council members [I] secured property for green space, secured funding for public safety projects through state of federal funding, [and] opened new fire station with the help of SPLOST.

What are some of the immediate projects you want to work on if you win the mayor's seat? 
To make sure our sidewalk program gets finished and upgrades to traffic control in conjunction with GDOT and Walton and Gwinnett counties.

What are some of your long-term goals for the city? 
Upgrades for water and sewer and our aging infrastructure.

What do you think is the greatest challenge facing Loganville, and how would you approach it? 
To keep up-to-date with the increase of population in and around Loganville to meet those needs and keep Loganville clean and safe.
