How Are Loganville Residents Voting in the City Council Election?

As of 2 p.m., about 300 people have cast their ballots.

Voter turnout in the city of Loganville has been steady as of 2 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 5) for Election Day.

City Clerk Kristi Ash said more than 300 people have voted so far in the city council election at the Rock Gym off Main Street. There has been a short line at times throughout the day, but the wait is never long.

Three at-large seats are open on the city council for Loganville, and the mayor's seat also is on the ballot. Seven candidates qualified to run for council: incumbent councilman Rey Martinez, incumbent Vice Mayor Mark Kiddoo, and candidates Chuck Bagley, Amanda Soesbe, Linda Dodd, Eileen Waring and Pedro Vega. Incumbent Mayor Dan Curry has been challenged by Jerry Price.

One 19-year-old said she voted for Martinez, Bagley and Kiddoo for council, and stuck with Curry for mayor.

Another voter, Malcom Folkes, would only say that he voted for Martinez.

"He's the only person that I've met personally," he said. "He seems to be a good representative of the community and the views that I stand for."

A 76-year-old woman voted for Waring, Kiddoo and Soesbe, in addition to the incumbent mayor.

"Mark went to my door," she said. "That had a lot to do with why I voted for him."

Voting will continue for both the city and Gwinnett County until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Check back with Patch later tonight for the election results.
