Here is one sure way to fix the US Economy.

Congress must make products SOLD in the US abide by the laws governing products MADE in the US.

This would make offshore producers pay the Federal Minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, plus SS & Medicare co-pays (for the offshore workers retirement), plus workers comp (escrow money for offshore worker who get hurt on the job) plus environmental and safety costs (to keep the world clean and workers safe), and abide by US child labor laws. If offshore producers did this, the US could again become a competitive producer for domestically consumed products.

These are not tariffs since all the costs and benefits would be for the producing country. The US would not collect any money on imports made this way. It would be up to the exporting country to prove their products imported to the US were made with the above requirements.
