Memorial Day Events

Looking for ways to commemorate Memorial Day? Here are some local picks.

Memorial Day is a day that we remember those that have died in service for our country. Originally called Declaration Day, it first began after the Civil War. Now, Memorial Day often is the start of summer vacation time and is a three day weekend devoted to picnics, fireworks, and family get togethers.

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with these great local events.

1. For the 13th Annual Ride for America, American Legion Riders will ride from Loganville instead of Monroe as they have in years prior. The riders will head out from American Legion 233 on Hwy 78 on Monday morning, stop for  a ceremony in Madison and then return to Loganville. The riders will have a police escort for the entire route. Visit www.rideforamerica.org for information on entertainment and schedule.
