Man Had Hand Cut, Driven Over in Walmart Gift Card Theft

A 22-year-old Grayson man is one of three charged with armed robbery over the alleged theft of a Walmart gift card.

Christopher Wayne Gant, 22, of 1676 Grayson Parkway, Grayson, is one of three men charged in the alleged armed robbery of a Walmart Gift card on July 13, 2013.

According to a report from the Gwinnett County Police Department, the victim had asked Gant to give him a ride to Walmart for cigarettes. He said he told Gant he had a Walmart gift card. Gant and two other men picked the victim up, but did not stop at Walmart. Instead they drove to a location on Lawrenceville Highway and Windsor Drive in Lawrenceville and forced the victim out of the car. They then allegedly stole the gift card, punching and kicking him in the process. One of the men allegedly cut the victim’s thumb with a utility knife to force him to give up the gift card. The three men then sped off in the car, driving over the victim’s hand as he lay on the ground. A medical unit treated the injuries and police took photos of the victim’s hand for evidence.

The victim was able to identify all three men from police records. Gant was arrested on charges of armed robbery and for a probation violation. Others charged in the incident are Christian Ryan Harris, of Lawrenceville, also charged with armed robbery and probation violation, and Joshua Ray Shoemaker, of Buford, charged with armed robbery and battery.
