Loganville Woman, 52, Injured in Wreck on Highway 78 on Tuesday

A 52-year-old woman from Loganville was injured on Highway 78 in Monroe on Tuesday when her vehicle collided with another vehicle that pulled out from Cedar Ridge into her path of travel.

Traffic was tied up on Highway 78 in Monroe during the afternoon rush on Tuesday when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Cedar Ridge at around 4:50 p.m., according to a spokesman from the Georgia State Patrol.

"A 2004 Infiniti being driven by Elizabeth Towler, age 77, from Monroe was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of U.S. 78 from Cedar Ridge southbound," the GSP spokesman said. "The Infiniti pulled into the path of a westbound 1992 Pontiac Firebird that was being driven by Mary Samford, age 52, from Loganville. The Firebird hit the Infiniti in the left side.

Both drivers were taken to Clearview Medical for treatment, according to the GSP spokesman.
