Funds raised go toward the GFBF and the MDA. Officials with the MFD said the golf tournament is another way to raise funds other than the boot drive, which is getting dangerous as traffic increases in the local area. All the funds raise by the LFD, in either the golf tournament or the boot drive, is for charity. None of the funds go to the fire department itself.

The golf tournament will take place on July 26 at the Bear Creek Golf Course, 4125 Lakeside Blvd, Monroe. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the shotgun start following at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served.
