Larry Hagman, Actor Who Portrayed the Villainous J.R. Ewing, Dead at 81

The Chicago Tribune reports that Larry Hagman died Friday of complications from his battle with throat cancer.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Larry Hagman, the actor most famous for playing the part of the villainous oilman J.R. Ewing in “Dallas,” died Friday. He reportedly died of complications from his battle with throat cancer.

Hagman was recently seen in a revived series of “Dallas” that focused on the children of J.R. and Bobby Ewing. Hagman began his career in 1965 in the popular television sitcom “I Dream of Jeanie” as Maj. Anthony Nelson. He was, however, most well-known for his role as the conniving J.R. Ewing.
