Information Sought in Armed Robbery

Loganville Police are looking for a man who held up Partyland on Athens Highway in broad daylight on Thursday afternoon.

According to Lt. Mike Westbrooks of the LPD, one employee – the son of the owner – was alone at Partyland at 3981 Atlanta Highway at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when an unknown black man entered the store.

“He said the man picked an item up off the shelf like he was going to purchase it and then put it back down again like he had decided he did not want it,” Westbrooks said, adding it was then the man brandished a weapon and demanded cash from the cash register. “The employee did as instructed and the man then had him go to the back storage room. He did not lock him in, but told him to stay there and count to 50. He did as he was told and only came out after the perpetrator had left.”

Westbrooks said the man is described as a light-skinned black male, about 5 foot 9 to 5 foot 10, of medium build and with a goatee and moustache. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing grey sweatpants and a dark pullover shirt and the weapon he brandished is described as a black handgun.

Westbrooks said since the victim was closed in the storage room at the time the perpetrator left it is unclear whether he left on foot or by any other means. Westbrooks said it doesn’t appear at this stage that there is any connection to an armed robbery that occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Dec. 13 at the . In that case, the suspect is described as a white male who entered the store brandishing a weapon and a bag. He had the clerk fill the bag with money and then left.
