A creative teacher could have used the same exercise to teach a life lesson that may have helped someone save a life down the road.

US corps don't pay as much as most in developed countries, and they sure won't go along with paying more or seeing their CEOs pay more on individual returns. According to the OECD as mentioned in the link, US corporations pay an e f f e c t i v e rate of 13%.
