A 17-year-old  student wrecked his car as he was leaving school Thursday afternoon.

According to Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry, the one-vehicle accident happened when the driver left the roadway and struck a tree.  He had been traveling alone. Authorities say the teen may have been speeding when he lost control. He was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

DeKalb County Police are searching for two armed gunmen following a carjacking Thursday night in the 2700 block of Hatfield Circle SE.

The victim, 49, told police he had just arrived home and was parking his Toyota RAV4 in his driveway when a man in a hooded sweatshirt and mask approached the driver's side window armed with a gun.

The gunman pointed the black-colored gun at the victim's head and told him to get out of the vehicle. The victim tried to leave via the passenger's side door, but was met with another masked gunman on that side.

The gunman struck the victim in the head with the gun, lacerating his left temple.

One of the gunmen left in a newer model gray Dodge Charger, while the other left in the victim's Toyota, a witness told police.

Lithia Springs resident Bobby Lee Dickerson is in a Tennessee jail on statutory rape and other charges after being caught Sunday with four teenage boys.

Deputies found a slurring, stumbling Dickerson with four 16-year-old boys who appeared nervous next to a 2001 maroon Chevrolet van with the keys locked inside.

According to the deputies’ report, all five smelled strongly of alcohol, and a red cap from a bottle of Smirnoff vodka was found on the ground, the Douglas County Sentinel said.

Dickerson admitted supplying alcohol to the boys but said he thought they were 21. One of the boys reported a sexual relationship with the Lithia Springs man, who deputies said acknowledged having sex with the boy at Harrison Bay State Park.

Dickerson faces charges of public intoxication, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated statutory rape..
