Around the Region: Multi-State Police Chase, Motorcycle Accident and Foam Parties

– Cartersville Patch

A multi-state, high-speed chase ended in Cartersville when a suspect in a Kentucky homicide shot himself.

The chase began in Hamilton County, Tennessee, and had continued south on Interstate 75. Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies became involved when the chase entered the county about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The suspect’s vehicle reached speeds up to 120 mph during the chase. The pursuit ended after law enforcement officials used stop sticks and the P.I.T. maneuver. The driver was air lifted to a regional hospital in a Life Force helicopter following a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

I-75 was partially shut down for three hours as a result of the incident.

– East Cobb Patch

A 74-year-old man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a multivehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Marietta.

The accident started when a landscaping truck traveling north on I-75 at the Allgood Road bridge blew a tire at 1:48 p.m., according to a press release from  Officer David Baldwin.

Roy Hendrix of Jasper swerved to avoid the tire debris in the lane ahead of him, lost control of his silver 2009 Honda Goldwing motorcycle and crashed.

Hendrix was rushed to  with life-threatening injuries, Baldwin said.

Parents, beware of foam parties that are bubbling up across the area.

The is warning of these popular, if not dangerous, parties that are luring teens in.

A party full of soap must be good clean fun, right? Not exactly.

Foam parties are held in business establishments, usually nightclubs, and include massive amounts of bubbles and foam for teens to splash in. These parties can lead to violence, underage drinking and lewd sexual acts, according to a press release.
