Around the Region: Man Extricated After Crash, Synthetic Pot Seized From Stores and Several Arrested in Gambling Raid

An unidentified 47-year-old man was taken to  after a Thursday afternoon accident in Canton.

"When emergency service personnel arrived on scene, they found a silver KIA Optima had left the highway, gone down a 30 foot embankment, and struck some trees," said Cavender  spokesman Tim Cavender. "The driver of the vehicle ... had to be extricated."

The man's injuries don't appear to be life threatening, he said.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is wasting no time in seizing synthetic marijuana around town.

, just days old, allows law enforcement the ability to confiscate synthetic marijuana, and this week authorities did just that.

There were 1,939 bags of the fake substance, commonly knows as spice, “bath salts” and K2, taken off the streets in a sweep Wednesday evening of five local businesses, according to Sheriff Ted Paxton.

Gwinnett Police busted gambling operations in two homes in Duluth on June 11 after receiving an anonymous tip about two gambling clubs.

Mi Hui Yi was arrested and charged with keeping a gambling place, commercial gambling, and possession of gambling devices at the Michael Circle home. Chong Suk Han was arrested at the Old Norcross Road home, where she was in charge, police said. She was also charged with keeping a gambling place, commercial gambling, and possession of gambling devices.

Several other women were arrested at the second home including Sung Hee Choi, Young Suk Han, Shirly Kim, and Mi Hyang Huh. Choi was charged with keeping a gambling place, commercial gambling, and possession of gambling devices. Young Suk Han, Kim and Huh were charged with commercial gambling.
