Safety Alert/Tips from Loganville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division

There is evidence of a criminal element that is preying upon bank patrons.  The suspect may be incognito visiting local banks/ bank parking areas to identify banking patrons that withdrawal cash and place the money within the interior of their vehicle. The suspect then follows them to their next stop and conducts a vehicle break-in.

Be aware of your surroundings, for example, when going to a bank and cashing your check/making a withdrawal you should count your money at the counter and secure the envelope before leaving the bank.  Leave that money on your person.  Do not take the envelope out and put it in your console or in the sun visor or anywhere in your car.  If they have observed that you placed the money in the car the criminal could possibly follow you and break into your car to take your money.

Always put items of value out of sight such as laptops, purses, phones, briefcases, GPS devices etc. The old saying “out of sight out of mind” unfortunately is the way we have to live this day and time. ALWAYS secure your vehicles never leave them unlocked anywhere even at home in your driveway.
