Walton County Jobless Rate Down 1.3 Percent Since March 2013

Unemployment rate in north Georgia continued to decline last month.

The jobless rate in north Georgia continued to decline in March, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

The agency said the unemployment rate in metro Atlanta fell from 6.9 percent in February to 6.8 percent in March, and from 6.3 to 6.2 in Northeast Georgia.

The jobless rate in Walton County, however, stayed steady at 6.5 percent. Still, the rate was 7.8 in March 2013.

Unemployed workers in the county numbered 2,638 in March, according to labor department statistics.

The jobless rate in Georgia fell last month, too.

Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 7.0 percent, down from 7.1. The rate was 8.4 percent last year at this time.
