Sobriety Check? There's an App for That!

‘Tis the season. Holiday parties are still in full swing and New Year’s is right around the corner. Webroot has an app that may help you make the right decision should you overindulge!

TDA Boulder and Webroot have developed the Social Media Sobriety Test for those times that you can’t be trusted with your own good judgment. The Social Media Sobriety Test can possibly make you think twice before you commit that social media faux pas and regrettable post with a photo that makes you an overnight YouTube sensation!

The test consists of a series of both coordination and cognition challenges which evaluate your sobriety. Users are asked to drag the mouse in a straight line, follow a finger, or just hold their Android or iPhone level while standing on one leg. Low score? You will be more likely advised to avoid sending that tweet or text and receive a recommendation for a taxi company or nearby motel based on your location. A higher score will get you the address of a local bar where you can continue your party.

Webroot says that it “has specifically designed this app to prevent the loss of clothing, dignity, job, marriage or friends. While you are free to ignore its advice it will test your coordination, comprehension or lack there of and attempt to guide you away from an early or embarrassing end to your evening.”

Though developers warn that it isn’t to be used as a full test to determine your driving ability, it can definitely help you make a few right decisions that override that regrettable “send” or even grabbing up your keys to make your way home.

You can download the Social Media Sobriety Test for free for your iPhone or Android. See how it works at the blog “if it’s hip, it’s here.”

At Loganville Patch, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season and we encourage all of our readers, friends and families to NOT drink and drive.

Sitting here with a cold today. I wonder if it works when your on cold medicine too? Of course I'm not leaving the house and don't need the closest bar, just chicken soup. Now if we could only enter a persons name and see if they were a good match to continue the evening with or go to the next bar.

Susan ... when you get over that cold, I think you've hit upon a money making opportunity there! Then of course, if you don't do well on the "late at night match maker's test" your judgment just can't be trusted!
